Apollo hires CFO from PwC

The Leon Black-led firm, which filed an IPO earlier this year for up to $50m, has hired Gene Donnelly to fill the position left by Kenneth Vecchione.

Apollo Global Management has hired Gene Donnelly, a veteran executive at PricewaterhouseCoopers, as chief financial officer.

Donnelly has started in his role at Apollo, a spokesperson confirmed. He spent 21 years at PwC, most recently as a partner.

Apollo has been on the hunt for a CFO since it revealed in a regulatory filing that Kenneth Vecchione would be leaving the firm no later than the end of March. Chief accounting officer and controller Barry Giarraputo was filling the role.

Vecchione had ceased working as CFO in January to “pursue other interests”, but continued to support the firm in transitioning his role. Vecchione had been a director with Apollo since 2007, and prior to that served as CFO of MBNA Corporation.

Apollo filed for an initial public offering earlier this year of up to $50 million on the New York Stock Exchange.
